Peterbilt gives custom Model 567 to SuperFan: Peterbilt gave away a Model 567 Heritage truck at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Kentucky, at the end of March. The winner, Rick McClerkin of San Jose, California, won the company’s SuperFan search in celebration of a major truck production milestone. The grand prize, the 1 millionth Peterbilt truck, is a Model 567 Heritage equipped with a Paccar powertrain, including an MX-13 engine, Paccar Automated Transmission and the Paccar 40k rear axle. To win the 1 millionth truck, Peterbilt accepted submissions from fans across the U.S. and Canada. People submitted stories, videos and photos to demonstrate passion for the Peterbilt brand. Peterbilt of Norfolk to host workshop: Truck owners, drivers, fleet managers and safety directors are invited to attend a workshop titled “How to Pass a DOT Level I Inspection” on Thursday, April 5, at Peterbilt of Norfolk, 2001 S. 13th St. Information also will be provided on what it takes to qualify for a CDL. Nebraska State Patrol Carrier Enforcement will demonstrate the DOT inspection procedure, a 37-roadside check; vehicles will be elevated for better viewing. Attendees should bring their own safety glasses, which are mandatory. Register by emailing Sheila O’Connor at sheila.oconnor@nebtrucking. com or calling 402-476-8504. For more information on the training, call Jerry Wessel at 402-580- 8069.
Register now for Nebraska Driving Championship: The deadline is May 1 for those wishing to register for the Nebraska Truck Driving Championships on June 9. A registration packet can be downloaded from the Nebraska Trucking Association website, nebtrucking.com.

Now that the Electronic Logging Device mandate is law, it’s important to make sure you understand the rules set forth by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). While law enforcement officials currently are giving out citations for rigs found to be out of compliance – which can impact your insurance rating – violations after April 1 will result in the vehicle being placed out of service. See your Midwest Peterbilt Parts Department for details on an ELD to meet your specific needs.
